Mission Statement
We believe that international standards of human and democratic
rights apply to all Eritreans equally. We also believe that vigilance and
timely protest need to be applied now in order to curtail current abuses
and thwart further tragedies from recurring in Eritrea.
Our principal mission is to promote and defend human and
democratic rights of all Eritrean citizens inside and outside Eritrea.
Therefore, our Objective is:
1)
To relieve poverty, sickness and distress of victims of human
rights abuse, especially within Eritrea and Eritrean communities abroad.
2) To advance public education about all aspects of
democratic rights and systems, human rights and human rights abuse and to
publish the useful rights of such research, again with particular
reference to Eritrea and the Eritrean people with the aim of promoting
peace and reconciliation in Eritrea.
3) To fight for the abolition of torture and other
contravention of human rights of the Eritrean people by all lawful
means.
4) To promote and carry out research into the abuse of
human and democratic rights of Eritreans.
The expression “human
rights” shall mean the rights which (a) member states are called upon to
promote and secure under the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights;
and (b) contracting states are bound to secure under the European Convention
on Human Rights.
Method:
1.
Engage in forums of discussion with various
civic groups to advance the value of tolerance and exchange of ideas.
2.
Solicit and mobilise moral, intellectual and material
resources as well as other forms of support necessary for the promotion
and institutionalisation of a culture of peace, respect for human rights
and democracy in Eritrea.
3.
Work together with all Eritrean and
non-Eritrean groups who embrace similar values and principles.
4.
Actively protest, in a peaceful manner, against
any attempts that are designed to block the democratic process in Eritrea
which is the ultimate guarantee for the respect of human rights.
